Time to Re-group

I wanted you all to be the first to know that the West Coast ‘Ukulele Retreat will be taking a little breather in 2019. But we’ll be back in full force in 2020!

It was a tough decision but as most of you know, I am committed to making each year’s retreat better than the one before. . . . .and different. . . . .very different. And last year’s retreat was so over the top (you wild bunch of hippies, you!) I really need to pull out all the stops for the next one.  (And no one is going to be more disappointed than the dining staff at Asilomar that looks forward to our flash mob every year!)

Unfortunately, finding a date when we could get our favorite venue at Asilomar and the instructor line-up essential to the success of a top-notch retreat in 2019 was proving very difficult.

On top of that, we just received news that my hubby is being transferred to LA, which has put our personal lives in a bit of a tail-spin, but one we fully expect to recover from soon.

I know this will come as very bad news to some of you, but please know our plan is to come back stronger than ever in 2020.

In the meantime, please be sure to check out the other Ukulele Adventures we have on the schedule for 2019 and 2020.  The two Ukein’, Bike & Barge trips we scheduled for 2019 are full, but we are accepting deposits to secure your spot for the two trips scheduled for 2020: Ukein’, Bike & Barge trips in Provence to Carmague in France,  June 20 – 27, 2020 and Koblenz to Merzig in Germany, September 12 – 19, 2020.

Here’s how the deposit works.  If you want to be included on one of these trips, you need to mail me a check for $100/person and let me know which trip you want to be on and if a buddy is going to be registering separately so I can be sure to bunk you together. (If you are outside the U.S., please contact me and I will let you know how to transfer funds.)  I will hold onto your check until I know for sure we have enough folks committed to making the trip feasible.  (That’s usually takes just a couple of weeks).  If, for some reason, I decide the trip is not feasible, I will let you know and destroy the checks.  But, if it’s a definite “go,” your check is deposited and your place is secure.  I have handled all three of the Ukein’, Bike, and Barge trips we’ve scheduled so far this way (Paris, Netherlands, & Venice), and it has worked pretty well. So, please contact us for further information and to make sure we still have space before mailing your check.

We are also accepting deposits for Ukulele Rhythms in Cuba! which will take place in early December, 2019.  I would have preferred to wait until we had more details ironed out, as there’s still a little more red tape to take care of before we have actual dates firmed up. But, folks seem particularly interested in this one and wanted to make sure they had a spot whenever it was!  If we get enough interest, we can consider doing another one in January of 2020.  Again, contact us if you are serious about joining us.

And don’t forget, we still have Camp Oo-Koo-Lay-Lay, and the Hawai’i Island ‘Ukulele Retreat!  So, even with the temporary hiatus of the West Coast ‘Ukulele retreat, we still have lots of ways to make your ukulele dreams come true!
